Ready to Save? College Savings Iowa Announces App Enrollment

October 20, 2022

Des Moines, Iowa – College Savings Iowa is helping families start their path to saving for higher education while still on the go this fall. Now with the READYSAVE 529 app, families can open a College Savings Iowa account and begin contributing to an education fund for their children between watching football and carving pumpkins without slowing their pace.

The READYSAVE 529 app allows new savers to enroll entirely from their mobile device. Existing College Savings Iowa participants can also benefit from the app by using it to make contributions, review investments and check transaction history.

Administered by the State Treasurer, College Savings Iowa is the State’s direct-sold 529 plan. For over 20 years, the Plan has helped families save for higher education on a tax-advantaged basis, with one of the biggest benefits being the state tax deduction for Iowa taxpayers. Up to $3,522 per beneficiary account can be deducted from 2022 Iowa income taxes for those saving with the Plan.

Funds saved in a College Savings Iowa account can be used on qualified education expenses, such as tuition, room and board, textbooks, computers, supplies and more. Beneficiaries can attend any eligible education institution around the globe, including traditional four-year universities and trade schools.
